My car insurance raised the price of my premiun, I didn't get any tickets, no accidents.....?

and I even took the defensive driver course online , they told me that it was because they rise the premiuns in the whole state of virginia? is this true or just a lie?
Is it someone that has/had the same problem than me?

what auto insurance company do you recomend?

They have the right to raise your premium, but you have the right to shop around and get it cheaper. I'd get a couple quotes from online and from some of your local insurance agents. Make sure you compare all the coverages included in your existing plan with the new one (sometimes the cheaper rate is because they lowered certain coverages).
i doubt its a lie. rate changes occurr all the time due to new information and loss statistics, and this would affect the entire state. this rate increase is also approved by your states insurance commisioner, so your company has every right to increase your premium.
How about your credit score? Your premiums can be affected by that too.

While I don't know specifically about Virginia, it's a possibilty it was state wide.

We've had very good service from Progressive.
Hiya:

Rates can be raised for all kinds of reasons like national theft rates for your vehicle or the zip code where you park your car at night.

If an insurance company is planning to raise rates, they have to apply and get approval from the state first since the state regulates insurance. They can not raise rates without state approval.

If you're looking for low price insurance rates - your credit rating is going to make a difference. If you're credit is good consider companies like AIG, Allstate, Nationwide, State Farm. Those are older established carriers.

If your credit is fair to not so good - consider high risk carriers like The General, State Auto, Geico....

I worked for Progressive and consider them a really good company. They write all kinds of coverage.

Goodluck!

My insurance company raised my rate by almost $700 because of my credit report, which I think is just outrageous since my credit score and my driving record do not go hand in hand. I think that they lied to you. I called and told my insurance company that I was switching to another company since they raised my rates and they lowered my premium by about $900. Try that and see if it'll work on your company! Try Geico or Progressive. Good luck.
That may be the case. But you should still shop around anytime your insurance is raised for no reason. I would get an online insurance quote from http://www.auto-insurance-knowledge.com/...
