I need to report a car accident but insurance office is closed? |
is it Ok to wait until Monday? With a serious accident call the claims number. For a less serious accident, waiting is fine as long as any required police report has been made. there should be an 800 number on the form to call 24 hours a day. if not i'm sure it will be ok to wait until monday. unless there is an 800 number, yes. Try looking on the back of your insurance card for a number to call. Try going to their website! How serious was the accident? If just a fender bender, Monday will be ok. If somebody was hurt, ASAP. Make sure you keep info about any witnesses, police dept or law enforcement that made a report. Most states require you to file a state report if either car was damaged over a certain dollar amount. Make sure you check into that as failure to do so can cost you your driver's license. Check your insurance company website. It may have a toll free number to call to report accident. I would call the police and file an accident report.The insurance company can wait till Monday. I haven't heard of an insurance company yet that didn't have an after-hours number. I have State Farm and I have my agent's HOME number. |
