I've heard that it is easier to buy a home than a car because a home appreciates and builds equity and a car doesn't. A home can be reposessed without taking a loss, a car can't usually. I had no problem buying my first car, but I paid a higher interest rate because of my lack of credit. I didn't have a bad score, I had no score. If you can put money down that may help or get a co-signer with great credit. Other things help lower your interest rates as far as I know, like being a college graduate. As far as i know it won't matter much where you go; however there are always those dealerships and lots in every town that cater to people who have no, little or bad credit. All you need is proof of income. These sometimes have higher interest rates but it can't hurt to shop around. Always shop around and go to all the dealerships. Also, my most recent car purchase was done by going to capitalone.com where you can get an instant auto loan. They send you a check/certificate in the mail (or you can have them email it to you I think) and it's as if you've got cash in hand when you go to the dealerships. You won't have to worry about sitting at the dealership while the finance person tries to get you a loan from all the banks/finance companies he can. You're basically a "cash" customer and from my experience capital one is a good company. Also - $6800 is NOT an expensive car. You should be able to find one for $4500 if you look hard enough, but most of the time you will not be approved for a loan for a car that is more than 5 years old and for a very small amount. The times I've bought cars for $2,000-$3000 they were pieces of crap and I ended up having to go and get another one. And buying from craigslist and out of the classifieds is fine, but unlike some people (Mr. Six-Figure Income) most of us can't just go to the bank and pull out $1700 and then have thousands of dollars in the bank that you can pull out when that crap car breaks down. Good luck www.capitalone.com lign="right" > Sign in to vote! A good loan company that gives out car loans with less than perfect credit is HSBC. You can apply online with them. http://www.getbadcreditcarloan.info... |
