I have a bank account that is joint with my moms. How can I cut off my account with my moms? |
I am 18 and made the account when I was an adult. I also can take out money whenever. You need to close the account and open a new one...the patriot act does not allow banks to just remove someone from an account. If you are a joint owner you have all rights to close and only you need to be present. Source(s): Bank Teller You probably have to close the account with your mom (or at least her signature), but there is nothing stopping you from taking money out and putting it in another account--unless there is a moral reason you shouldn't. If it's your money, go ahead. If you don't want your Mom on it, well if your 18 - just open a new one or talk to your Mom, she can go to the bank and with her permission be asked to remove her name off the account. Good Luck |
