How to open a checking account if the bank is saying you owe another bank in another state??

I just moved to a new state, and wanted to open a checkings account, and they give some paper and told me to contact ChexSystems. Well, I did and they faxed me out a paper saying I owe a debit to another bank back where I moved from. I closed that account before I lefted. Now I can't open an account until there this mess here is cleared. I need to open an account like yesterday!! Is their a way around this?? No smart answers please!!!

Go back to that bank and take your dispute letter. Ask to speak to a bank or branch manager. Tell them you closed the account. Show them your dispute letter. Show them that you closed that account. Once, the bank knows it is a dispute, they should go ahead and open an account up. If you really do need a checking account, try finding a bank that will not use Chexsystems or look for a bank with a second chance checking account. This can be changed to a regular account at a later time, once your dispute is cleared up.
No there isnt you will have to wait until the mess is cleared up.Call the bank you used to have and maybe they can help talk to the bank manager. Good Luck
