Is closing an account at a bank instantaneous or do they have process it for a couple of days?


I just want to take my cash and go.

If you are very wealthy it may take a little bit, but generally it is instantaneous.
It's instant. However, remember to leave money in the account to cover any outstanding checks or fees.
the collected balance will be available immediately and the remainder after it becomes collected. UNLESS the bank has reason to suspect that one or more of your recent deposits may come back in the future for reasons like "forged item" or "forged signature" -- those can take months.
