Bank account transfer?


i would like to have a bank account in the big city near my small town to avail more facilities like online banking and other facilities. im a govt employee and am getting my salary through the bank.

can i transfer my account there though i live in my small town. wat should i do

you should give u r pass book and cheque book with an application to the manager of that particular branch and if that bank is there in that big city u can get it transferd directly from the bank and star a new a/c there. U can even ask the bank which branch will be nearer to u r home and whether that branch will have those facilities which u require .Its as simple *** that..without even closing that a/c u can get it done that as the present bank has all the details of u r with them. U will have to fill the a/c opening form and get it authenticated by the present manager who will authorise u r signaure as per u r present a/c with them and it will be done. Yes you can re locate your bank account wherever you want. I will say though the large banks tend to be cold and very unwilling to let things slide like a small bank.
I feel a more practical option would be to open a fresh bank account with some amount at a place/branch with all kind of facilities you are looking for - and keeping your existing account as well for the time being. Meantime, with the new account - experience the new facilities, their merits and demerits, costs-if any....etc. Then getting used to the new banking environment, if found meeting your requirements and expectations, transfer the funds from the old account to the new account and have your transactions there. Since you said that your salary is being credited to your existing bank account, you will have to see for yourself from your employer whether that credit can be directed to your new account or not, and accordingly you may think of closing or not closing your old account in due course.

Opening a new account with a bank with modern facilities is not at all a problem, provided you complete the minimum statutory requirements.
Many banks has the facility for transfering money to own accout or to 3rd party account. In my experience Federal bank online service is best. You can open one anywhere banking account with Federal bank. and you can transfer money from one branch to onether bank. Contact your nearest branch for more details.
