Anyone know anything about a passbook savings account? Do I need to have something that has proof of my current address to open one of those accounts? I'm living with someone else temporarily in a different town, so I have nothing with my new address on it, including my license.
All you need to open a bank account in the US is a passport, id and social security number. The government made it a bit harder since 9/11. People can even list they address as a P.O Box but the checks can't be sent there. One need to pick them up at the bank for security reasons. |
