this account was close since last year some one stole my checks and wrote a check for 6000 dollars but I have a new account but they freeze my new account cause of the old account which was close since last year Can they do that
Go to your local state attorney office and report this right a way. I don't believe this is legal and there should be a pending criminal case pending from the old bank account. Hopefully, the state attorney can apply pressure on your behalf. If not go to your local TV & Newspaper to see if they have a trouble shooter. The last thing these banks like is bad press about you being victimized twice. If all else fail get an attorney - it sound like you have all the elements of a law suit including damages.
yes they can...it actually happened to me. Some one tried to cash a 2800 dollar check using my account so they temporarily froze it to investigate the activity
