Which Bank offers the best checking account options? |
Which Bank offers the best checking account options? That all depends on where you live. What I can tell you to look out for when looking for an account are the following: 1) No monthly fees. Some accts charge you a monthly fee for having an acct at their bank and some do not. 2) Low NSF/ Overdraft charges. These can range anywhere from $20 up to $35 per charge. Usually credit unions will have lower charges in this area so if this is a concern for you, try a credit union if you can become a part of one. 3) Free debit cards. Be sure that the card has a Visa/Mastercard logo on it so that you may use your card anywhere. 4) Free checks, or atleast the 1st batch of checks free. Most banks will give you your 1st 50 or so checks for free. 5) No minimum balance. This allows you to use you funds to as low as you need to without the bank charging you a fee for not keeping enough funds in your account. Most banks have done away with this, but watchout, they are still some around. Hope this helps. I don't know about the best, but please stear clear of Wells Fargo. I live in a small town and it's the only bank here....every single person I know has had problems with them, including myself and my husband. They are horrible!! I don't know where you live... but check out bankrate.com You can compare the rates for many different banking options (mortgages, savings, CDs, credit cards, auto loans). Figure out what is most important to you and go with it. Also, the more that you know the employees at the bank, the better service and deals that they will give you. |
