What is the best bank to open a checking account? |
I am an international student. Are there any banks with free checking? No monthly fees? STudent checking? You have to watch out for the requirements. Some will require a minimum balance. Some will require the use of a debit card. Some will require other products that the bank offers. Choosing the bank will depend on where you are and if you plan to travel... try a local credit union. you can find them in the phone book under banks and they are much better than traditional banks for several reasons. 1) fewer customers means they treat you with value 2) comepitive interest rates and checking as bigger banks 3) money is somewhat less accessable in large amount to keep you from overspending (teller has $100 daily limit and offices hold fewer hours) 4) should you ever need a loan it is more likely to happen at a credit union.
