Can I sue a bank for delays in opening account and sending ATM pin?

I have opened a new account with Citibank (India based branch) and they have messed up opening my account. It was over 45 days before I got any account numbers. Now I am without any PIN for the ATM card, and so cannot access my money. Its been over 2 months now since I opened the account. Do I have any case?

SORRY MRS. SUE HAPPY THE ANSWER IS NO.

I can't think why so many people want to sue first, and ask questions later. A lawsuit should be last resort, not the first.

You probably don't have a cause of action against the bank - they'll have protected themselves with all the verbiage you signed. But if you complain nicely to the bank manager at the branch where you signed up, he/she will likely do something like waive fees or give you a small sum to compensate you.

In any case, if you just go to the branch, they WILL provide you access to your money - they have to by law.
