What forms of ID are required to cash a check at a bank where you have no account? |
I have a photo ID, but my wallet was stolen so I don't have a social security card or credit card. What else can be used for ID at the bank? in my experience, it was just my driver's license, so a photo id would do and they only asked me for my thumb print if the check was over a certain amount. if you are cashing a check for like $20 all that will be needed is your id. for amounts that are bigger than that, each bank has its own limit, a thumb print may be required. i don't know. I would be worried if someone has your social secruity card though. Typically, it has to be a drivers license or a picture ID....and maybe a credit card. Some banks ask for a finger print as well. The bank I work for requires just a license or a state ID. Most banks photo ID,,and a thumb print,,,,,,,,,Why don't you go to your bank??????????That's what I'm sticking with,,,but that's me Passport can be used as well. Some states give out piece of paper with drivers license info as temporary to carry in your car till the real one comes in the mail. Can you take the check to the bank it was drawn on? They should honor it if you take it to where the account is, and you shouldn't need anything else but a photo id... |
