Can a third party check made out to 'cash' or 'bank name' be deposited into my checking account? |
I have 2 checks to be deposited into my bank acount but they are not made out to me. Can this be done without any hassle at the bank? The way I understand the question: One, the check is payable to person X who endorsed it over to cash. In this case, 9/10 times your bank will have a problem with this. In General: Third-party endorsements are tricky, and SHOULD raise suspicion (if your teller is well trained). It helps if the person who the check is written to can come with you to verify his signature. In addition: I know at my bank, checks payable to the bank name are accepted for loan payments, etc ONLY. Best to check with yours ahead of time. Let me know if you need any more help or if I misunderstood the question. Hope this helps! Third party check? Made out to cash, or bank? Not made out to "me"? If a check is made out to "cash" Yes. If made out to "bank", it must be deposited at that "bank'. Your bank will verify at the time of deposit, electronically. Yes, however, you will have to co-sign. Ywes it can be deposited or cashed if you have sufficient funds in your account !! A check made out to cash is like a $100.00 bill and if you lose it anyone can cash it . If the check is made out to a bank you can either take it there and cash it with proper I.D. or deposit it in your bank until it clears . |
