Can a bank teller give out personal information about my account to anyone else without my permission?

Is this legal? This is NOT a joint account by any means, but I feel very violated that information was disclosed without my approval and unfortunately, I am not able to find any websites that show if this is legal or not. Please help!

It is absolutely NOT legal. You should report it immediately to the federal agency which oversees your particular bank, AND to your State Attorney General.

Get all your facts and evidence and be prepared for the bank to deny any wrongdoing. If you can prove that confidential information was provided without your consent, you've got a good case. Source(s): Myself, a banker for 15 years.

No they are not allowed to give out personal information..you need to go to the Bank Manager and speak with them..depending on the info that was given out..you might want to change your account number and checks and all at the banks expense..i would not let this go if I were you
