Why is it inportant in understanding the banking process and having a checking account?

You need to have a bank account in order to attain credit. Credit and credit ratings make the world go round. Unless you are blessed with the ability to pay cash for everything, i.e. house, car, etc., then you don't need to worry about it. However, if you want to buy anything big, you must establish credit and to do this, you will need a bank account.
