I got $500 to start with. I pick online banks because I really don't need the brick and mortar types for this type of account and I heard they have better interest rates. I want to set up a savings account where I can store money and gain interest. I have no plans on withdrawing fr: this account, maybe for special purchasing/ investing projects. Or is there a better option for me to save long-term?
ING direct is one..IT's paying over 5%..you can take out CD's starting at 6%. It's linked through your checking account. If you need to add money, you transfer it from your checking..if you need it back, transfer it to your account. They raise the interest rate almost every month..good luck Emigrant Direct has the highest return (It beats ING everytime).
