Can a Financial Instituation (Bank) be sued for breach of privacy on your account number? |
When you cash a cheque, your account number is revealed in the back even though you did not give anyone your account number. The bank has failed to protect you as a customer, in case someone gave you a fradulent cheque just to get at your account number. There is the privacy act many organizations have to deal with their customers. I have worked for the government, to me it is a breach of trust. If anything went wrong with your bank account, can you hold the bank accountable but also being noted as a Bank's error? I keep my address separate on the bank statement from my street address which goes into a postal box. I was thinking about things today, the bank is not protecting you as a customer. I have a finance background, cancelled cheques do reveal a person's bank account (signature and where it was deposited). You can sue anyone for anything at anytime. Whether or not you'll be SUCCESSFUL is another matter. I actually think you're worrying about something that won't happen. Love Jack I have worked in the check processing area of a bank for several years. The only time I have ever seen a customers account number anywhere on a check they deposited is when they wrote it in the endorsement. I WOULDN'T GET TO CARRIED AWAY............... BANKS ARE FAIRLY WELL PROTECTED.................... MOST ACCOUNTS THAT ARE ATTACKED "LOST" ARE NOT BANKS FAULT BUT CUSTOMERS...... COMPUTERS HACKERS AND STOLEN CHECKBOOKS. Emily L Your story? Very interesting...... 鈽呪€烩槄http://www.osoq.com/funstuff/extra/extra... |
