Which well known bank has the best interest rates for a savings account? |
I am wanting to open up a savings account and add a percentage of my paycheck each month. I am in the Houston, Texas area and I would like to have your opinions as to which bank has the best savings account rates and so forth. Thanks! Credit Unions are not FDIC insured. When comparing banks, I use bankrate.com, they compare interest rates on savings accounts, credit cards, and mortgages. Some accounts require you to have $5,000 or $50,000 to get the best rate. If you don't have one yet, you should look into opening an IRA and investing the money you would otherwise put in the savings account. Depending on your risk tolerance, you can find investments that meet your needs. Any type of credit union is the best best for savings accounts and they have the best interest rates. Chase has a variety of services u could either put ur money on a CD- Certified Deposit that u would have alot more interest. Good luck Do not use a bank. They pay the lowest interest of all. Use a savings and loan, or a credit union. The credit union would pay more in most cases, but you usually don't have the convenience of multiple locations. This wouldn't matter too much if you like electronic banking. I personally like the option of having a variety of locations I could actually visit. emigrantdirect.com ingdirect.com captialonesavings.com all pay about 5% I'm with ING.com...I'm sure you've seen the commercials with the bus bench. They are online and you can set up auto deposits from your checking account. They are currently paying 4.5% with no minimum deposit and are FDIC insured I've been with them several years. I highly recommend them. They also have CDs at 5% and a new checking account at 3%. Send me an email and I can send you a refer a friend link. You'll get $25 when you open your account...I get $10. |
