What is the international bank that has the highest interest rate in savings account? |
What is the international bank that has the highest interest rate in savings account? Most large banks in the US operate internationally. They pay more interest in some less stable countries provided you open the account in their local currency. The problem is they have requirements such as being a citizen of that country or being a resident there. Foreign banks that operate in the US basically pay the same rate like any local banks. You can go to bankrate.com to check the rates. The basic conclusion here is, in a free global market system all banks pay basically the same. The more risks you are willing to take (like in other currencies), the more interest they will pay you. Some currencies (euros or RMB) pay even less interest than in US dollar because of the declining value of the dollar. Just be safe. Go to bankrate.com and open an account locally. Source(s): Bankrate.com Traditionally it is Swiss Banks. Be very careful. Foreign interest rates are very misleading. If you are investing using dollars, but saving in another currency (example Swiss francs), you will be paid interest in that foreign currency. BUT, from the time you make the initial investment until the time you receive your interest and principal, the exchange rate might have changed, making your investment worth less. 20 years as an international economist. Everbank has international CD's available and their current APR's are available (look at www.everbank.com under Currencies-Currency CDs.) It is true that you are also risking currency exchange fluctuations that could work against a higher APR (but could also work in your favor.) |
