I want 2 claim back charges but my bank wont play ball cos i cant remember my account number any shortcuts? Make a "Subject Access Request" under the Data Protection Act. Ask for your sort code, account number, and while you are at it a list of charges or statements for the last 6 years. Give the bank as much info as you can remember, such the location of the branch where you had your account, and any addresses you have used in the last 6 years. Help them to help you. Send the letter to the banks head office (addresses on the site below), for the attention of the Data Protection Officer. They then have 40 days from receipt of the letter (sent by recorded delivery so you can track the date they received it). You can then move on to claiming your charges back. If you have checks for your bank account then your account number should be on the bottum of your checks! It doesn't matter if you can't remember your account number. They can use your identification to find your account. It sounds like you are trying to find out how to get someone else's account number. Any correspondence with your bank - like statements, letters, cheques will show your account no. If you can't remember it they probably think you are on the con! please !!!!!!!! you need to know that number if you have a bank account just how it works, isn't a matter "playing ball" , its you being flakey |
