Somebody opened paypal account on my name and charged my credit card $2875.bank says Im responsible for money? |
somebody bought goodies for $2875 using my name, my address, and my credit card. bank sais I'm responsible for the charge. People from paypal says the stuff was never shipped anywhere. what do I do? You need to file a police report ASAP. Next, you need to dispute the transaction with PayPal since they acted as the transfer agent. If PayPal says nothing has been shipped then that is even more support that PayPal needs to reverse the charge on your account. You need to try to work the dispute through their dispute resolution center. Be sure to save all of your Emails, and other documents. All of this demonstartes that you have made a "good-faith" effort to resolve the dispute with the merchant. If PayPal does not resolve it, file a fraud dispute with your credit card company. Be sure to file it before 60 days from the date it posted. They will send you a form and you complete it showing all of your good-faith materials. They will provisionally credit your account while they inviestigate it. It could take up to 90 days to get a final resolution. If the bank that issued the card does not help you, you need to find out whe their regulatory agency is and file a complaint. The Electronic Funds Transfer Act governs electronic disputes. Curious though, when you set up a PayPal account, PayPal deposits two small deposits to your credit card account. You must find out what they are and confirm them with PayPal. How did a criminal do this? Was this an existing account that was hacked? It is gong to be difficult to recover--no doubt. Good luck. If it was charged on your credit card, and you can prove the fraud, I don't believe you're responsible. Check with the company. You stating the bank is not investigating the dispute and identity theft? Or they ruled it to be valid purchase-after your dispute?Have you made a police report yet? since they were never sent how did they get charged? Can you make sure thaey don't get shipped and request a full refund. Why would you be charged for stuff that was never shipped, the stuff must be somewhere ready for shipment. Either way you whould not be responsible for the charges. talk to the people that the money was charge to n ask 4 ur money back cuz u never got the item i dunno wat else to tell u but if the item was never shipped u shouldnt have been billed have a great day |
