I work at a bank. Why do people get so upset when I ask them for ID to get money out of their account? |
I work at a bank. Why do people get so upset when I ask them for ID to get money out of their account? Because they are jerks... I appreciate when someone asks if they can see my id at the bank or when I make credit card purchases. When someone gets upset, tell them that someone tried to withdraw all their money yesterday, but you didn't let them because they didn't have any ID. Probably because their immediate reaction to something getting between them and their money is hostility, they forget the reason it's in the bank is for security. Incidentally, my mom is so well known in her bank they don't ask. I think people are still a bit naive... I think that what goes through many people's minds is something like "Of course I am me - who else would be accessing my account?" There are also people which the "me me me mine mine mine" mentality who feel that you are "imposing on their rights" and are probably thinking something like "How dare you impede MY right to access MY money?" If it helps, I always thank clerks who ask for my ID. I was a victim of identity theft several years ago and I know how hellish it is. i like lorettoboys answer, thats a very good point Do you mean the people with the ski masks, George W.
