How old do I have to be to get a bank account?


without having to have your parents on it? This is for a 15 year old.

I thought it was 18, but when i was 16 i opened my own. They had an offer going on for students, and when i questioned it.. they said i could open an account. I didn't need my parents.
You can get a savings account when you're 15 and a checking account when you're 18. At least in my state those are the laws. It may differ according to jurisdiction.
Well, anyone can have a bank a/c, even a 4 y/o... But then you cannot withdraw money until you're 18 & until than your parents or someone who is 18 will manage your account/signature.
You can be any age. I am 11 and I have a savings account. You just have to take your parents with you.

If your under the age of 18, meaning your still a minor, you'll have to have an account with a parent or custodian, otherwise the finaincial institution can't hold you leagally responsible
