Is it true that if you personally save for college funds in a bank account, you can't apply for student loans? No, that is not true. You can still apply for aid even if you have money in the bank. While it is true that you will need to report the amount that you have in the bank and that the federal government may expect you to use a portion of those funds to help with your educational expenses, you will not be expected to use all the funds. You'll need to complete the application on line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov so that your school's aid office can determine the type and amount of aid you are eligible to receive. ya youll have to much money to qualify haha yep. No, how are they going to know what the money you have in the bank is for? Tell them you're saving up for a house! okay rock on i know about this stuff. i used to work for the federal student aid information center. the 1-800 number you can call. yeah anyway the is a place on the fafsa where it ask how much you have in a bank account. this cannot stop you from getting loans but it will make the amount you get less. most of it is based off of taxes and income. and yes they will check is see if you lied. hey if you need any help filling out your fafsa let me know i'll help. so you can still get loans just not as much and it will effect how much of a grant you get to, but not by much. if you have like enough for two years of tution then i'm sorry but you will be screwed for lack of a better work, when if comes to grants, but loans are different. again it will just make it so you don't get a lot, but you should get enough. you can always call he number if. they will help if you don't mind waiting an hour to get through to someone. sorry. and it doesn't matter what you tell them it's for. they think if you have it used. they really don't care if you are gonna used it to buy a house. sorry again.
