Is it normal for a place that is renting to you to ask for your bank account numbers? The information needed to run a credit check are name, birth date, social security number, home address. This will provide a credit check with your credit rating and credit card numbers. The bank account (checking/saving) numbers aren't included on the credit report. So the reason for requesting your banking account numbers is to find out from your bank how the bank rates your accounts bases on average balance over the past 3 months and bounced checks. Not all states allow this info to be given out by the bank. I think it is if you are applying for a lease. It's fairly normal to ask for a checking account number so that they can run a credit check on you. After all, they are renting to you and taking the risk that you will pay on time. If you intend to pay your rent by check, it's nothing more than they would have the first time they got your check. The account number is on the bottom of the check. yes, its on a lot of applications... why i dont know. I manage apts and we dont do anything with that info. it aint like we cant get it off your rent check if we were to ever need it ... i cant imagine why we would. we cant do anything with it anyway! checking acct only |
