What bank accounts have the best interest rates-normal or savers? Normal bank accounts generally are poor on interest rates. However, some banks offer a better interest rate on current accounts as long as you pay in over a certain amount each month (e.g. 拢1000). You will find though that specific saver accounts will offer better rates, especially internet only accounts as they reduce company administration costs and can therefore afford you a higher interest rate. Accounts with a longer withdrawal notice period will also offer you a better rate generally. Check out 'http://www.moneysupermarket.com/ftym/sav... to compare savings accounts and bank accounts. i have a isa-saver accoutn with woolwich. that serves me very well Well an ISA is tax free so you should prob look at that first. internet based ones will prob give you a better return. it depends how much you have to save...what access you need to it...and whether you want to save a lump sum. or as and when. i work in a bank ING DIRECT has a savings program that pays 4.50%, not the greatest but above the average. The kicker is if you have $250.00 in it by the 90th day they add a savings booster of $25.00. They claim no fees, no mimimums or hidden charges, so after 90 days you could withdraw that money and place it in a credit union. They generally pay higher intrest so look around. Don't go for anything less than 5.50%, they're out there. The Credit Union I use pays 5.86%, Supposedly in the top ten. You have to live within 50 miles of this area to be a member though. |
