My bank of 3-8ft. flouracent 2 tube lights run dim. I checked the voltage and its fine. any thoughts? |
I thought it was the ballast but on 3 separate 2-tube lights? Are you saying that you have 3 banks of 2 compact fluorescent lamps with integral electrical ballasts in each? There is only 4 failures that can occur: Emission mix runs out in the lamp (change the lamp) Failure of the phosphor coating in the lamp (change the lamp) Tube runs out of mercury, doesn't happen often (change the lamp) Failure of integral ballast electronics (change the lamp fixture) If your 3 separate banks are dim then I would say that you do have a power problem feeding them. How did you check your voltage? Did they just start going dim or have the always been dim? Have you checked the ballast in the fixture? Is there dirt on the contacts? Switch off the light, remove the tubes and spray contact cleaner in. In a few minutes, reinstall the tubes. Try searching for "fluorescent ballast basics". The Advance Transormer Company used to have a good paper on how they work and how to troubleshoot them. |
