Is it possible to deposit a check - written to signed by my mom - into my bank account after also signing it?

I have done this many times before and we have also done this in reverse with no issues. Today however, my bank would not accept the check without her being present or on the account. Does anyone know if this can or can't be done?

You can do it, but they don't have to accept the check for payment or deposit. In any case- even if they accept it- you'll likely have to have suffucuent funds in your account to cover the check, plus the funds may not be available for up to 10 days or more.
yes it is
Yes they are allowed to refuse 3rd party checks if they want to.
yes
hi, you spelled cheques wrong, thank you, come again
They stopped allowing 3rd party check cashing a while ago. If you were able to do it recently it was by chance. They no longer allow that
Yes.
It can be done, but most banks now require the other person on the check to be there with id to make sure there is no fraud or identity theft going on.

It is also used to prevent someone who owes the bank money (defaulted loans, bad checks, etc) from using a 3rd party to cash their checks in that bank.
