How come a 17 year old can't sign a bank loan and be legal "But" if he joins the Marines at 17 he has to go?

My nephew signed at 17 and now wants out. (He's 18 now) So how can the Marines make him stay if he was under age to go in? He was 17 when he signed up for the Marines. He tried to sign for a loan to buy a new car but was told 17 year olds are not legal to sign papers.

The only way you can enlist at the age of 17 is with parental consent. If you are 17 years old and have a GED, or high school diploma you may enlist with parental consent, otherwise you must wait until you are 18.

Therefore if that is what happened he was not underage as you state. 17 year olds cannot sign legal documents as an adult as you state, however they can in conjunction with their legal guardians.

Either way we both know that this entire story is simply something else you have just made up.

I guess lying is fun for you or something.
A 17 year old MUST get a parent's signature to join the Marines. MUST. If his parents signed then he must go, or suffer the same consequences that all the rest of the quitters get.
Because he didn't just sign up, his parents had to sign the form, allowing him to do it. Basicly, THEY were saying that he could. If his parent's co-signed, he could probably get an auto loan too. He should quit whining and act like a Marine.

EDIT: As for evamercy: You're stupid. When you enlist you are VOLUTEERING. NO ONE makes you sign up. If your friend hated it, tough luck. I enjoyed my time, combat sucks, but I still did it, and I didn't whine like a little b****.

As for the mail thing, my wife is over there right now, and I get mail from her 2-3 times a week. It has never been opened. I get mail from other friends over there too, and it hasn't been opened either. I think you are a liar, as well as stupid.

EDIT: He still signed up. No one put a gun to his head. When you do, you have to suck it up. Your nephew sounds like a pathetic little s***, and his fellow Marines should proably start kicking his sorry @$$ before he gets someone killed.
6 years USMC OEF, OIF, enlisted at 17.
How much is a seventeen year old boy worth? Not much.
Banks are much more careful !
This really is a shame!!!I apologize about his situation.

One of my friends did not want to go to Iraq she hated it everyday especially since she doesnt beleive in war.

And the government really treats them as criminals and on top of that they really dont get paid a good salary..

You should have seen how I received mail from Iraq.
All of it ....you could it tell was opened and read. I felt violated.

Thats when the reality hit me that Our soilders are in jail with no court date in sight

Just pray for him and everybody
