Bank Charges! (UK only)?

I'm about to request that Abbey bank return my last 6 years of charges to me. I've followed the 'Which.com' guide and the letters ready with figures. How successful can I expect to be?

You have an excellent chance of getting all your charges back. There have only been a few cases lost so far, and there have been reasons for these losses, if you follow the standard procedure correctly you shouldn't have a problem.

Good luck getting ANYTHING back from Abbey.

Here's some good advice: Close your Abbey account and open one with First Direct - the best bank in the world!
95% sure, I hate the Abbey national, they are robbers. Stick to your guns and demand for the manager (loudly, so other customers can hear!) if they try to fob you off with less - good luck.
Abbey are fighting every body they possibly can. If you have a genuine claim (which it sounds like you have) then stick fiercely to your guns and you should get everything you are due.
I can't be bothered. I'm just changing banks instead.

Not sure. Banks seem to be getting wise to this now and still awaiting the outcome of a case one refused to refund credit too. It's going through the courts. They may try to stall so be firm. Good luck.
Abbey are owned by Banco Santander in Spain so I don't know how successful you'll be, but there's no harm in trying. I don't advise anyone to be with Abbey, especially for Insurance. Took them 12 months to send someone to repair my garage door which had come off the roller.
