Bank problem - UK only please? |
Has anyone had trouble getting money back from a bank? I recently switched mortgages to Natwest who have been very good and it was very quick. I won't say who my previous lender was but they are one of the biggest and in my opinion do not have the X factor. Problem here is that I had my main mortgage and a home improvement loan. My completion date was brought forward and an amount of 拢120 was paid to them on the same day I completed. Obviously the payment that went out on this day was not taken into account in the settlement letter dated 2 weeks earlier. It is 6 weeks now and am still waiting for the refund. I have rung them 5 times and I can't seem to get the message through that a payment was made to them AFTER the loan had been paid, even though we are talking only a few hours. They are telling me that because the payment came through after the loan was paid off it doesn't show a credit on the account as the account was closed. Anyone else had this problem. It is no good dealing with problems similar to this by telephone because your questions can be misunderstood and of course the replies can be vague. Take time out and raise the matter in writing and of course keep good copies of all the correspondence. State a time limit for the requested action/ reply and then if necessary threaten legal action ! sorry can't help but u could try citizens advice give them a ring or pop in if u can hi phone tham again. tell them what happened again as they may be missing something then at the end of the call ask for the number of their ombidsman who will be able to sort this out for you i had aproblem with my bank i paid of a loan them had over 2.000 pound put into my account i phoned the bank 3 times to tell them this wasnt my money as interest had been taken off loan instead of refunded i was told each time i phoned that the money was mine and to go and spend it a day later i had a urgent call to say dont spend the money and they took it back anyway to cut a long story short i phoned and complained had nothing not even a appology so at the end of the call i asked for their ombidman number and i had a cal back from their team leader and compensation which wasnt bad... good luck. Hi, I agree with 'Whispering Ron' forget the phone now and do it all in writing. Photocopy the letters. Say that under advisement you have been told to continue discussions only in writing Gently imply that a non response will push you to take it further. Add a deadline date for a reply. Send the letter by recorded delivery. Check out site on writing your letter:- http://www.businessballs.com/complaintsl... You are just a number mate, not important, just a number, try writing to the chairman of the bank, might work. |
