Do banks have a common database wherein they pool in all their customer details in India?

No.
However, the credit card divisions of banks do pool their customer information in order to let others know the credit worthiness of its customers.
no that would be against the data protection act or eqiuvalent, bank accounts are confidential and customer information should not be shared with other companies
As on date no sudh data exists but those which lend money has the database of people who had taken loan. Assuming X has taken a loan with ABC bank and defaulted in it and applied for a loan in PQR bank, ABC bank will know that X is a defaulter.
no
but banks can share information on clients in credit card division, loan defaulters etc.

also govt. is regular information taker about dealings of indiviuals. so dont be surprised if some official come knocking on your door to ask about your dealings.

bye& best of luck
