The Royal bank of Scotland a nationality question?

The RBS is it a british or scottish company?
what will be the repercussions to those outside scotland with accounts if scottish independance occurs?
The former chairman George Mathewson made comments a while back which have made me think twice about lodging funds with this institution.
What's the script?

The Royal Bank of Scotland has joined a number of financial services companies that are tyring to shed their images as national banks and insurance companies by changing their names to abbreviations. HBOS, HSBC, CIBC, TD Banknorth, ING, AIG, ABN AMRO, AEGON...I am not certain that RBS would find any advantage from declaring in favor of the cause of Scottish nationalism or exiting the English market. I would expect that they would make business decisions that would be to the advantage to the bank, and I doubt funding a split from England would been seen as beneficial to anyone at the company. Since they print bank notes, they might become the central reserve bank of Scotland, but that is not necessarily what the bank would desire.

If you look at their non-executive directors, you see Americans, Irish, Australian, South African and then a bunch of people who could be whatever Anglo Scottish mix would make you happy. This does not seem to be an organization poised to become bound to the Scottish national cause.

As for those bastards at HBOS... who know what they are plotting? Source(s): http://www.rbs.com/about03.asp?id=about_...
you got far to much time on your hands.get a hobby or something
RBS is a company listed on the London Stock Exchange - it would be probable that in a post-independence Scotland that the company would use an Edinburgh stock exchange (this is supposition).

It wouldn't make any difference to the security of your deposits where they are located - people aren't saying 'o noes!' to the fact that Spanish company Santander own Abbey etc.
Business is international. If an American company bought out the RBS, would you be worried? You'd still talk to Scots lassies in-branch (if you're in Scotland!); and your money would still be in a vault somewhere on the British Isles
The RBS is constituted in Scotland, but can choose which Stock Exchange(s) it wishes to be listed on.
What about the HSBC etc? Aren't they a foreign bank? It wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to your funds as far as I can see if Scotland became independent. It's certainly nott kept me awake at night dreading this.
