Even if you have credit cards in collection, whats the best way of restoring your credit?

There is no easy way, first- contact the credit card co.s start paying them $10.00 a month. ask for a reduced balance, w/ no % accruing. If you can pay more than $10.00 , ask that it be applied to principal only. Get them to give you an agreement in writing, before you pay anything. If they refuse, they will always accept your min. pmt. and after 24 mos. you will have a track record of received payments to them, and then they have little choice but to report to the agencies that they have accepted your pmts, and must give you statements to this fact. These statements can be submitted to the three agencies, who then will adjust your f.i.c.o. score, by at least 20 pts. per creditor. GOOD LUCK!

pay off all of the debt even though it will show was in default it will show that you at least went and paid it

Contact your creditor (they may be held by a collection agency) and make arrangements to pay on the debt. Also, make timely payments on any other debts you may have, including utilities. Good luck.

Get a cash-secured credit card, typically best one Orchard Bank, and use that to re-establish credit...

And the typical, stay current with all your other accounts...
if you can afford it offer to pay the debt you owe in total at a lower settlement or agree to make payments of smaller amounts;or you can file for bankruptcy and try for credit in several years.
