What is the best way to close all your credit cards? If you close them, IT WILL HAVE AN ADVERSE AFFECT on your credit score. Get a consolidation program or consolidation loan...it really works... make sure they're all paid off the call the company. You don't want to close them because it looks bad to have a high debt/credit ratio. For example if you have five cards with 1000. each available with 100 on each... it looks better to have 500/5000 used, than if you had 2 cards with 250 on each, you'd have 500/2000 used. If you don't want to use them, don't use them, but it's best to keep open to build good credit. It depends on whether you have a balance on them or not. If so I agree with consolidation them. Otherwise contact each company and close them all. Also request a letter in writing that they are closed. So companies will try and get you to stay, listen to them, they may give you a much lower APR than you already have.
