If you incorporate, can you put credit cards under your business and bypass your own credit? |
I've heard that you can do this. You'd be opening new credit UNDER the business entity. Is your personal credit still subject to be checked? Absolutely you can. You have to think about you and the corporation being two DIFFERENT people. The corporation has its own credit, debts and expenses. You might have problems in the beginning getting a credit card because the corporation has no credit. You might be able to sign as a guarantor for the corporation to establish credit. Do NOT co-mingle personal and corporate funds and assets. Always remember, they are two different entities. Unless you have a DNB rating or some other established business credit that can be used to determine creditworthiness, you may be asked to be a personal guarantor in which case your credit will be checked and you will hold the bag on any default. Your incorporation will not protect you from that. |
