Car Tax.............?

I know I should know the answer to this question but do you have to have a certain amount of time left on your MOT before you can tax your car?
My tax is due on 31st July and MOT runs out 8th August.
It's possible I'll get it MOT'd before the end of July but if I don't I can still get my car tax can't I?

I once had to tax my car but my mot ran out on the last day of July. Tax started from 1st august. Lady in post office told me if mot ran out on 1st august there would be no problem but because it ran out on 31st july she could not let me BUY 拢96 worth of tax ???

yes!
if you are sent a reminder then you can use it to renew about a week before the tax expires.
and you can MOT a car a month before the expiry of the existing one.

I can't see how they can say that you need a certain amount of time left.
You can't pay for new tax before the 15th of the month... mmm maybe its too early for me to be on here lol

The DVLA should send you a letter reminding you that your road tax is due and also your MoT.

Yes you can still pay your car tax without an MoT.

There may however be a problem for you if you do not have the necessary docs because some insurers will not insure a vehicle unless and until it is taxed and MoT'd.

Yeah I know, it's a silly arrangement. So if you have any problem like this, find a back street insurer who asks no questions.
the answer is yes the post office will issue tax discs from the 15th of the month or u can apply online for one normally takes about a week to get delivered. but they already have ur insurance and mot details at dvla
