Do you have to pay sales tax when buying a used car privately? |
Do you have to pay sales tax when buying a used car privately? In some states, yes. The motor vehicle department has a bill of sale form, and they calculate the sales tax from the selling price of the vehicle. Not in AZ :) yep You have to pay when you pay to have the title switched but don't tell any one the person can always put a less amount on the title so you pay less taxes yes but most people do not but if you get caught watch out!!!!!!!!!!!! The State revenue departments are about as greedy as the IRS More so if you count the USE tax they charge on out of state purchases if you paid a sales tax that is less than it is in your state you reside in No. in Illinois you do. |
