Is there sales tax on cars in Alaska?


I hear that there is no sales tax in Alaska... like Fairbanks has a city/county sales tax, but that it maxes out at $8 per transaction...

Does that mean I will only pay $8 in sales tax for a new car?

There is no state sales tax. But any city or county (borough) can have their own sales tax. Fairbanks does not have a sales tax. Source(s): Alaskan resident and payer of Juneau Sales tax!
