Can I write off mileage if my company pays 4 gas & a car allowance(that is taxed)but not pay 4 maintenance? |
My cpompany gives me 600 dollars a month for car allowance, but it is taxed, it barley cover the car payment, this does not include insurance and maintenance and repairs to the vehicle, they do however reimburse me for gas money. I was wondering if I can still write of mileage because this car is 100% used for business, but the 600 and gas money does not even come close to covering all the cost for the car. Can I also write off payements??? no, you cannot claim mileage. although you can use actaul expenses. i feel that if you are asking it is because you do not have the receipts, or that mileage is much more than actual. as far as payments . . .check with taxact.com, turbotax.com or hrblock.com they have great interviews and will let you know of the latest tax laws. tax act is a free download, so there is no charge to use their program.. hope this helps. good luck Source(s): taxact.com turbotax.com hrblock.com You might want to have your taxes filed by someone at H&R Block. It's not that much money, and it's less risky then filing something like that car by yourself--in case it can't be written off. I think it's better to be on the safeside. If there's a mistake with your taxes, H&R Block will have to speak for it, not you. |
