Why are new cars taxed, then re-taxed everytime they are sold. Isn't that double dipping? no, because sales tax is the tax on the sale of an item, so the second sale is another, distinct sale to a different buyer. registration fees, license fees, and those kinds of things are assessed annually, and are a different kind of "tax". |
