Unbeknown to me I driving a car without tax, what's my punishment? |
I bought a car 10 days ago (from cargiant) and wasn't informed that it was sold without tax. The car is 7 months old and I stupidly assumed that would have tax therefore never checked and only noticed today that it doesn't have a tax disc. Do you get so many days grace to get a tax disc and if I get stopped by the poilce what penalties am I looking at? You can do it now, go onto DVLC.com there you will find a site to tax your car, you can then ask for confirmation that you ahve paid , print this put it by where you show your tax this will inform the police that you have applied , it will be with you by wednesday. tax it immediately...these days..if you dont pay the tax - they can take & crush your car...i'm sure if you get pulled up by police...they will see that you have just bought it...and might give you a little 'grace' to tax it...depending on the mood of the police officer at the time. dont delay though! ur punishment will be that u have to give around 10 $ or more. yeah sure. tell that to the judge, tax dodger Just go out and tax it from the beginning of the month .... the laws of the land state there is no excuse for ignorance ... wait till the 1st of the month or you'll have to pay for May The dealer should have told you there was no tax.They are at fault as they should either agree with you as part of the price to tax the car or they should have told you to tax the car. They were negligent so it's worth atry at going back and asking for a road tax. If not, get one as soon as possible.The dealer should have given you the green slip part of the log book so that you can get the tax from the PO ,with out this you will struggle to prove you own the car because the rest of the log book will be at Swansea.
