No Car Insurance, Road Tax or MOT on Irish Plates? |
Brought my car to England from Ireland. Forgot MOT was due on it, (driving a throw-away car at the moment). Now, I have no MOT, Road Tax or Insurance, how the heck can I get the car back home? Best thing to do is phone up the Irish police or DVLA over there. Next phone up the same over here and ask them direct. Hopefully you'll be able to get temporary documents that will enable you to drive legally in the UK. I'll do my best and have a look around for you also, just to see if I can come up with a better answer, otherwise you're stuffed. Ps. What you gonna do with the throwaway after? Wanna throw it my way??? Hi there Curious, You can get a temporary cover note from insurance brokers, then tow it home. Make sure that you can park it off the road until you are able to get the Mot and tax sorted out. As long as you have insurance, Mr. Plod won't really bother you if you show him your ferry tickets. "Yes, I *know* officer, that's *why* I'm taking it back, so I can get it sorted!!" YOU breaking the law Full stop.Driving the car puts peoples lives on the line.SO declare the car off road. And Get some one to tow it home for you>Sure you cant do a thing without an mot.And people Like you is why my insurance is so dear.Sorry JUST pay for the Mot get 6months tax.claim back once home.and temp car insurance>Cancel when you get home X Jump in the car and when you get to ferry, drive in the dock. |
