Insurance agent careers, what do you do? |
I am interviewing at John Hancock right now, and really dont know what the a career in insurence/ life insurance sales is like. How hard is the insurance exam? Is the pay good, what about starting? Has anyone ever worked for John Hancock? I am about to graduate from college and dont know what to do and randomly discovered this at a job fair. Anything woud help. Thank you so much!! It is much tougher being young in the business, especially for a career shop like Hancock where you have to generate your own leads. The pay is what you make of it as it is almost entirely if not 100% commission. Know 85% of people wash out in the first 5 years but after that 5th year a good agent who has worked on education and has developed a deep client base can pretty much roll out of bed every day and make close to 6 figures with 200k+ not being out of the ordinary. Hancock is an extremely good company and outside of working in a top class brokerage you can't do better than John Hancock. Their advanced market division and products are second to none and I know the head of the district office here where the average commission per case is 16-18K in commission. It's a decent living, but it can be boring and repetitious. Check this website. It might answer all your questions, including wage on a state and national basis. http://online.onetcenter.org/link/summar... |
