Once you check your credit report, do old creditors chase you down? I'm going to assume that you have recently moved and don't want your current address posted on your credit history...and where all your old creditors will have access to it, right? Not possitive about this, but I would bet that if you ordered a credit report sent to you by mail, your new mailing address could appear on the credit report. So....we take Credit Guru's advice. Go to www.annualcreditreports.com. View your history on-line so they don't mail it to you. They ask questions to verify your identity, and part of it may involve your address. But it will probably be your old address. That's about the only safe way of getting your report. i think sometimes they do yes, with big dogs! Your creditors don't know if you check your credit report. Old creditors can still come after you though. Question is, Do you owe them..If so, them they have a right to come calling. You got the money from them, so you should repay them. They trusted in you to repay the debt in kind. If you do not owe them either you paid them off or you declared Bankruptcy, then they cannot collect unless it was protected by law. Those would be federal loans or loan obtained illegally. When you check your credit you are leaving an audit trail with your current information. Name, address, phone etc. Old creditors that go over old accounts and run your credit can get this info and call you. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and get all 3 of your credit reports for free. The only one who knows that you inquired is you and the credit bureaus, not any of your creditors. You will be asked several questions to verify your identity. If you have left a trail of "bad debts" I'm sure you already know who they are. Review your credit reports to see if you have any negative items. You have the legal right to dispute any item you believe to be incorrect. Each investigation will take about 30 days. Good Luck |
