Does anyone know of any cheap but good medical insurance?

Good insurance won't be cheap and cheap insurance won't be good. You get what you pay for. Your best option is to visit a local independent agent because any one company will have different plans in different states. The best plan for me may not be the best plan for you. The agent knows the market in your area and can find the best plan for your situation and budget. They don't charge anything for the service.

Do not try to do this on the internet unless you have 3 or 4 days to devote to comparing the hundreds of policies available. The agent can find the best plan in an hour or two.

You may get answers here concerning medical discount cards. Be very wary of these cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of 鈥渟ave up to 80%鈥?be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. One state couldn鈥檛 find any doctors in that state that took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card. Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won鈥檛 give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they鈥檙e still taking the card (many don鈥檛 even know that they鈥檙e listed as a provider) and that they鈥檙e accepting new patients. Source(s): Independent Agent
