If the mother gets the child support all year for a child, why can`t the father get the income tax? Because regardless of whether the man pays his child support on time or not, all divorced fathers are perceived as dead beat dads...as with all things that need to be fixed in this country we put the most emphasis on the obvious misdeed that the monority does, and not the majority. Since the mother, or father in some cases, (very few), doesn't have to report the support as income, the father, (or here again mother in a few cases), should be able to deduct the amount paid....for those of you naysayers, it might just make the ones who don't pay, start paying..... Source(s): opinion Usually this is spelled out in the dissolution papers. It's probably (though not a certainty) a result of who makes more money on their job. If you really want an answer to this, go find a local attorney, who should be able to help you. He can my divorce decree indicates I pay child support, the kids live primarily with there mother, but I claim them as dependents on my tax return my ex pays me child support, but in our divorce decree, we agreed that he would claim our daughter on his taxes me dont know |
