How old does a child have to be to claim them in income tax? |
Do they have to be a certain age? I have a 3 month old and some people have told me she would have to be living for at least 6 or 7 months to get the child tax. Does anybody know? soon as they are born If your child is born on Dec 31 you claim him on your income tax!!!!! You can claim them from the second they are born. No, that's only if the child is not yours by blood. You can claim a child born on Dec 31 at 11:59pm on that year's tax return. The government knows that child was a dependant from conception. US tax law from the second they are born you are able to claim them and recieve credit.. You don't have to wait, you can claim her from the time she is born. My daughter was born on Dec. 31st and I was able to claim her. you can claim a child for income the very second that child is born. for tax purpose one of my grandchildren was born on the last day of the year and they got to claim him for the entire year. hopes this helps |
