For Canadian Income Tax, where do I claim preschool tuition costs for my child? |
Should I claim it under my income tax, or should my husband claim it? He makes significantly more money than me. Line 214 is correct. It has to be claimed by the lower earning parent. However, the higher earning parent can claim it if the lower income parent is in school (part or full time), unable to care for child for at least 2 weeks, in prison for at least 2 weeks, or living apart from higher income parent for 90 days+ due to martial breakdown. I believe it would be under line 214: child care expenses I'm not sure which one of you would claim it though. You can call the general enquiries #1-800-959-8281 or the website is www.cra.gc.ca |
